Who are we?
Miriam Cheng is the owner of Wild Child Native Gardens LLC, based in the greater Pittsburgh, PA area- zone 6.
Miriam grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and became involved early in life in ecosystem conservation, native habitat restoration and kitchen gardens. Since then, she has lived in Connecticut, working in community gardens, forest ecosystems and volunteering time removing invasive species. She has been working in the soil and living in the Pittsburgh area for 4 years as of 2022.
Miriam is a Garden Coach and has been gardening for over 30 years. She spends her days helping clients learn to grow the food they want to eat in kitchen gardens she designs and installs. She shares knowledge and teaches skills to those who want to learn more. She designs native landscapes and restores ecosystems with intention to bring pollinators, birds and bees back to the land, yards and gardens where they are intended to live.
Miriam is about to start her coarse load and volunteer hours to become a Penn State Master Gardener with Allegheny County, and is currently enrolled in Teaching in Nature’s Classroom. She belongs to the Gardenary Coach Society and will be certified this spring on gardenary.com She is a member of the Western PA chapter of Wild Ones, a national organization promoting native plants and natural landscapes and also sits on the board of Plant it Further, a non-profit advocating for and raising awareness through education for native pollinator specific garden growing.
